For most people, the first visit with us will be spent conducting a thorough dental evaluation. This includes an examination of the oral tissues and the teeth, an oral cancer screening, a complete mouth X-ray survey, photo images, health history and, sometimes, impressions for diagnostic study models. In addition to the diagnostic procedures outlined above, we will, in some cases, also perform initial preventive therapy consisting of scaling and polishing (dental cleaning).
The visual, clinical and x-ray information will be reviewed and, if necessary, a comprehensive treatment plan will be prepared and thoroughly discussed with you at another visit. That discussion will include a review of diagnostic findings, benefits you may expect from suggested treatment, various approaches to treatment whenever possible and a discussion of the estimated fees involved.
In order to help us better serve you, please bring with you information pertinent to your medical history and a list of any medications you are taking. If you have had a prosthetic joint or heart valve placed or if you have had any surgical procedure that has left metal objects such as bone plates or screws, please advise us of that prior to coming in for your visit.
If you have dental insurance, please bring your insurance card and any benefit information you have about your plan, as well as employer and covered individual information, if the covered employee is someone other than yourself.
Thank you for choosing our practice to serve you. We look forward to meeting you and caring for your dental needs.
